Given that I get a lot of review requests, I figured I better put this page up! If you’re a publicist, touring company, label or distributor, or are in an independent band, and you want to hook up with me, here’s how it all works.
I seriously consider:
- All review requests
- All feature/interview requests
- Any suggestions on working closely with labels, publicists, and distributors
- All requests for my services as a critic, professional writer, journalist
If you’re in an unsigned act, you can increase your chances of me taking you seriously. Here’s how:
- Send me a pleasant email
- Don’t claim your band is the best thing since Iron Maiden
- Don’t claim your release is the best release of the year
- Provide a bio, or at least some contextual information about your band
- Provide an indication as to genre and/or ‘sound’
What I do
- Release Reviews: albums, EPs, books, films (incl band films)
- Show Reviews: gigs large and small (when I’m available)
- Features: interviews (promo cycle for tours & albums), other features
- News posts: occasionally I post news, and am considering doing more of this; so shoot it through if you want coverage.
I seriously consider all genres of music, but I am first and foremost a METAL critic. Please keep this in mind. Please also note that hardcore and hardcore punk aren’t metal (yeah it’s obvious, but some people need to be told!).
I cannot guarantee that I will review anything or everything you send me. If it appears, it does. If not, it doesn’t. This is because of time restrictions! Please keep this in mind.
